Everything you need to know before your first game
Not Wordle is a daily word puzzle where your goal is the opposite of regular Wordle — you must try NOT to guess the hidden 5-letter word. Every guess must be a valid English word and must follow the clue rules (green = right letter right spot, yellow = right letter wrong spot, gray = letter not in word), but guessing correctly ends your game. The challenge is to survive as many rounds as possible without accidentally landing on the answer.
Yes, 100% free — every game, every day, forever. No account, no email, no subscription, no premium tier. Open your browser and play instantly. We are supported by standard display advertising, which allows us to keep everything completely free for all players.
In NYT Wordle, your goal is to find the hidden word in 6 tries. In Not Wordle, your goal is to avoid it for as long as possible. Both games use identical tile colors — green, yellow, gray — but the strategy is completely reversed. In Not Wordle, you want to choose words as far from the answer as possible, while still following the clue logic. It is significantly harder than it sounds.
Yes — that is exactly what our Wordle Unlimited game is for. Unlike NYT Wordle which limits you to one puzzle per day, Wordle Unlimited gives you a brand new random 5-letter word puzzle every time you want one. Play 5, 50, or 500 games in a row — no limits, no login, no waiting until midnight.
Absolutely. Every game on NotWordle.com is built mobile-first. The on-screen keyboard is designed for comfortable thumb use, tiles scale perfectly to any screen size from 320px upward, and all games load fast on mobile connections. No app download needed — just open your phone browser and play.
The New York Times removed their official Wordle Archive in October 2022, making it impossible to replay past puzzles on their site. We have rebuilt the complete Wordle Archive so you can play every puzzle from the very beginning — searchable by date or by puzzle number — completely free.
